Ryan Adams Covers Iron Maiden - “Wasted Years”

On BBC Radio 2 today, Ryan Adams stopped by for a live performance and interview, in which he described the process behind writing his new Ashes & Fire tune, “Lucky Now,” discussed working with producer Glyn Johns, and heard host Simon Mayo read a few pieces of glowing fan mail. Armed only with his Buck Owens acoustic, Adams played the new single before covering Iron Maiden’s “Wasted Years,” the 1986 Somewhere in Time single he once highlighted in a list of favorite metal songs for Blender. Hear the unplugged take, which fits surprisingly well alongside his latest original cut, above.
